In Himachal Pradesh, specifically the “eligibility criteria for admission to the Diploma Polytechnic courses” is now based on “having taken the PAT test (Polytechnic Admission Test )” as organised by the HP Takniki Shiksha Board, Dharamshala. Without this admissions to Polytechnics would not be considered. Students having cleared their 10th ( Matriculation ) examination, regardless whether they had Science as their subject or not , are eligible to take the PAT test and seek admission to the Polytechnic courses.
On completion of their Polytechnic courses the students have the option of further seeking admission to the Second Year of the B.Tech courses as Lateral entry or they could opt for placement services as offered by the institute. The Training and Placement cell at HIET would take the responsibility for the placement of the students who successfully complete their Polytechnic courses.
The Diploma Section is headed by an Independent Principal and has its own dedicated and experienced faculty. It has access to all the labs and the workshops as available at HIET for its other courses, as stipulated by the regulating Authority the AICTE and the NVTC
